Derogatis Psychiatric Rating Scale (DPRS)

The Derogatis Psychiatric Rating Scale (DPRS) is multidimensional scale for professionals to measure a patient’s psychological symptomatic distress.  Instruments, SCL-90-R and BSI, are closely associated with the DPRS;  the DPRS is used as a validity check for them.  The DPRS uses nine subscales to base the distress rating.  There is an additional test that uses 8 other subscales to provide a more accurate clinical evaluation.

The test consists of 17-item using a 6-point scale and then one more item with a 8-point scale.  The test is done in a paper-pence format and takes approximately 2 to 5 minutes to complete.  Adolescents to adults are the age range for testing.
