Friedman ANOVA

Statistics Solutions provides a data analysis plan template for the Friedman ANOVA analysis.  You can use this template to develop the data analysis section of your dissertation or research proposal.

Research Question:

RQ: Is there a difference on dependent variable by administration (time 1 vs. time 2 vs. time 3)?

H0: There is no difference on dependent variable by administration (time 1 vs. time 2 vs. time 3).

Ha: There is a difference on dependent variable by administration (time 1 vs. time 2 vs. time 3).

Data Analysis

To examine the research question, a Friedman analysis of variance (ANOVA) will be conducted to assess if differences exist on dependent variable by administration (time 1 vs. time 2 vs. time 3).  When the purpose of the research is to evaluate if differences exist on one ordinal/continuous dependent variable that is repeated across time points, then the Friedman ANOVA is the appropriate statistical analysis to conduct.  The dependent variable is dependent variableDependent variable will be measured across X time points.  The Friedman ANOVA is the non-parametric equivalent to the repeated measures ANOVA.  The Friedman ANOVA does not assume normality nor sphericity.  It can be done when the data is ordinal in level or when it violates the assumptions of the repeated measures ANOVA.  Scores simply must be repeated by the same participant across time points.
